Bugged by the frog

A frog met on the way

Long time I haven't written anything on that blog. Since I came back from Quebec City to my place in Morin-Heights, I've been forced to work on everything that I had left on the side during the residency. This was a harsh Summer, rainy, cold and dark. And the animals, especially the frogs, have been pretty quiet.

I have failed. It all just feels like a bad joke, but it's actually just me, with my crazy ideas, all too concentrated on one thing to see what's really going on. When I was in Quebec City at the start of Spring, the frogs were singing loud and I thought I could record them and play with their voices using an electronic circuit. But by the time the circuit was finished, the frogs had stopped singing...

So here I am, alone with my installation. The Summer is almost finished and there is no chance I'm going to find a place where to set it. I'll have to wait till next Spring...

A few weeks ago, I went to look around my place with my neighbor, Jean-Luc, who's very familiar with the area. We found two great spots. Pretty quiet right now, but next year, during the frogs season, the air will be filled with noise.

We went back again later at night. The beavers who "own" the place were a bit angry at us, they were loudly hitting the water with their tail. On the way back, I caught a firefly. I didn't know the light they emit was green like that. All of this feels almost unreal, doesn't it?
